What is Scouting?

Scouts is where young people make new friends, have amazing adventures, and learn new skills.

Scouts are do-ers and give-it-a-go-ers. Yes, we go camping, hiking, swimming, abseiling, cycling and canoeing. But we also get to hang out with our friends every week –  having fun, playing games, working in a team and taking on new challenges.

Every week we give almost half a million 6-25 year olds the skills they need for school, college, university, the job interview, the important speech, the tricky challenge and the big dreams: the skills they need for life.

Everyone’s welcome here. All genders, races and backgrounds. Regardless of your child’s physical ability – there’s a Scout adventure out there waiting for them. And we’ll help them find it.

Sign up to help your child discover their ‘thing’: from abseiling to coding to performance art and everything in between.

Scouting in Garforth:

1st Garforth Scout Group are an active Group within Leeds Templars District and part of the Central Yorkshire County.
We currently have six sections with a total of around 120 members:

We meet in our own Scout HQ built by our own Scout Leaders (Of the Time) and purchased with funds provided by many within the community.

We are still very active at raising funds for the maintenance of our HQ and Equipment and many within and outside the Garforth community have helped us to progress over the years. We are always on the look out for sponsors for our many projects, if you or your company can help us please contact us.

The Group is run by an Executive Committee. For more information on the work of the Exec, or if you are interested in getting involved, click here.
